Artistic Director
Mrs. Suzanne Fulton (she/her)
Suzanne Fulton began studying the voice almost 40 years ago. She grew up singing as a soloist in festivals and concerts, singing in school choirs, and singing in community choirs in Kamloops, BC. Her passion for music eventually led her to UBC to complete a Bachelor of Music in Opera Performance. This degree offered Suzanne the skills required to sing a soloist in oratorio and opera performances in Canada and in Europe in famous works such as Mozart’s “Le Nozze Di Figaro” (Cherubino), Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, and Handel’s “Messiah” (soloist).
Suzanne worked as a private voice teacher and discovered her love for teaching. She then returned to UBC for a Bachelor in Education and became a music teacher (West Vancouver Schools). Suzanne worked at Gleneagles Elementary for many years and currently runs both the choral program at West Vancouver Secondary School and the West Vancouver Schools’ Illuminate Choral Program (formerly known as the District Honour Choir Program). Suzanne’s passion for music and education eventually brought her back to UBC to complete a Masters in Music Education. Over the years, Suzanne’s choirs have won gold medal standings at festivals, toured Europe, sung at the opening ceremonies of the Paralympic Games, and worked with countless world-class clinicians.
Suzanne is very excited to have created MixChoir, an important choir initiative. She feels strongly that everyone has a voice and that music is an excellent vehicle for connection and belonging.

Choir Manager
Ms. Erin White (She/Her)
Erin White (she/her) has been singing in choirs for over 10 years, including 6 years in the West Vancouver Schools’ Honour Choir Program. She has long appreciated the power of music education in enriching both the mind and the heart. Alongside her studies at UBC, Erin supports MixChoir rehearsals musically and offers organizational support. Through providing weekly rehearsal recaps and scheduling information on Google Classroom, she works to create accessibility and open communication for all MixChoir singers. She has always deeply valued the community aspect of choir, and couldn’t be more grateful to be a part of a program that unites so many diverse voices, offering space for meaningful connection, laughter, and shared growth.
Why Create KidChoir?
Suzanne Fulton, a mom herself, was looking for the right place for her own daughter to sing on the North Shore. With no school choir available, and no other option that provided the experience Suzanne craved for her child on the North Shore, she felt there was a need in her community. As luck would have it, her friend Katy Cadman, conductor of the North Shore based MomChoir, had been looking for a place for her kids to experience the joy of choral music. She had been hearing from the community that they also wanted a children’s choir program for their children. Katy reached out to Suzanne about creating a North Shore Choirs umbrella under which MomChoir and KidChoir could thrive. As such, we are both SO excited about KidChoir having been choral enthusiasts since we were children ourselves. The inaugural year of KidChoir was 2022/2023.
